Geographer

This position is located in the Risk Management Agency (RMA), Deputy Administrator for Insurance Services (DAIS). The primary purpose of this position is to plan, execute, and advance regional and nationwide strategies for acquiring, analyzing, integrating, and applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote-sensing data to support RMA's risk-management products. Assists Insurance Services Division management officials and staff to develop and implement long-range plans, strategies, and objectives for applying GIS technology to RMA geographical and actuarial programs and related operations. Uses research methods from many aspects of geography to study all facets of an area, including its climate, economy, physical features, and culture. Plans and conducts cartographic and geographic studies to analyze crop insurance experience such as analyzing and classifying risk and production data.
