The St. Louis County Office of the Assessor is seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician to perform skilled digital mapping work within the County's Assessment Division. Key responsibilities include reviewing recorded deeds, legal documents, plats, and probate records to determine property ownership; researching and maintaining an accurate chain of title for county parcels; interpreting legal descriptions and identifying discrepancies in recorded documents; and investigating complex ownership issues involving estates, LLCs, corporations, and trusts. The incumbent verifies parcel splits, combinations, and property transfers, and utilizes GIS to maintain and update geodatabases as new information arrives. Additional duties include producing printed GIS maps displaying geospatial features, conducting legal document research to ensure correct placement of geospatial features, and providing limited technical support for County Enterprise GIS systems.
