Overview: The Geospatial Science and Human Security Division seeks professionals to support the development of next generation data strategies for federal operational awareness products. The role emphasizes scalable data solutions for high-volume applications, distributed computing across energy and transportation domains, and collaboration with research scientists addressing complex problems posed by sponsors including DoD and DOE. Major Duties/Responsibilities: - Conducting R&D for project-specific applications. - Developing and deploying geospatial data storage and processing solutions. - Decomposing requirements with researchers and sponsors for system implementation. - Collaborating with a highly diverse and multidisciplinary team including photogrammetrists, geographers, and computer scientists. Basic Qualifications: - B.S. or M.S. in Geography, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience. - Proficiency in SQL and Python. - ETL process experience. - Strong written and oral English communication skills. - Ability to function in fast-paced environments and present technical results. Preferred Qualifications: - Docker, Kubernetes, or container platform experience. - Familiarity with s3, parquet, DuckDB, and zarr technologies. - 2+ years of geospatial data processing experience. - Agile, Git, and JIRA experience. - Self-motivated collaboration abilities.
