Overview: The role supports geospatial data and visualization services for the NASA-funded ORNL Distributed Active Archive Center (ORNL DAAC) within the Remote Sensing and Environmental Informatics Group, Earth System Informatics and Data Discovery Section, Environmental Sciences Division, Biological and Environmental Systems Science Directorate. Major Duties/Responsibilities: - Manage publication of geospatial data services and their lifecycle, ensuring compliance with data and metadata standards - Create and maintain backend scripts and automation tools for GIS portals, AWS-hosted environments, and enterprise systems - Work cross-functionally with internal and external teams to fulfill sponsor requirements - Uphold ORNL's core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service while promoting equal opportunity Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, or related applied sciences; minimum two years experience (B.S.) or one year (M.S.) - Knowledge of GIS concepts, spatial data standards, projections, and metadata practices - Familiarity with cloud-optimized formats (COG, netCDF, HDF, ENVI) - Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, Portal for ArcGIS, and OGC-compliant geospatial services Preferred Qualifications: - Strong written and verbal communication abilities - Proficiency in GDAL, rasterio/xarray, arcpy, and shell scripting - Geospatial data quality assurance experience - Experience with ESRI Story Maps and ArcGIS Dashboards - YAML/JSON configuration authoring skills - Self-directed approach with collaborative team capabilities Special Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain HSPD-12 PIV badge; no visa sponsorship available; Real ID-compliant identification required; Federal Tier 1 background check clearance mandatory.
