Professional position supporting the development and administration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), performing work of considerable difficulty in professional duties. Creates, maintains, and updates map layers in GIS databases; develops customized maps, shapefiles, graphics, tables, and reports. Performs spatial analysis and database queries. Develops queries and scripts of moderate complexity. Compiles and integrates data from multiple sources, converting non-GIS formats into usable GIS data. Extracts and organizes data with quality control operations. Includes routine updates to water, sewer, and easement GIS layers; utility schematic creation via CAD software; reading engineering plans and field notes; and verifying water and sewer availability. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in geography, cartography, planning, engineering, or a related field plus two years of GIS operation experience, or an equivalent combination. Working knowledge of GIS principles, practices, concepts, and techniques. Skill in AutoCAD and ESRI-based GIS software. Ability to collect, interpret, and integrate data from multiple sources; communicate effectively orally and in writing; and develop effective working relationships. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI background check, and education verification required. Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment. Resume and cover letter required.
