GIS Analyst
Overview
The Town of Fairfield Department of Public Works is hiring a GIS Analyst. This role focuses on managing municipal geographic information systems and supporting planning, land use, and public works initiatives.
Key responsibilities include maintaining GIS databases, producing maps and analyses, managing municipal asset inventories, coordinating with multiple departments, and supporting emergency management operations.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Computer Science or a related field, plus 3-5 years of professional GIS experience in public-sector settings. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and may need to attend evening meetings.
Required skills
Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, spatial analysis, cartography, scripting tools such as Python or SQL, and knowledge of Connecticut planning and zoning statutes.
