Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) GIS Centre is seeking a GIS Data Governance Specialist to establish robust frameworks for geospatial and operational data management across the MSF movement. The role bridges strategic governance and hands-on technical implementation, combining policy definition with technical tooling deployment across a globally distributed humanitarian network. Responsibilities include defining and implementing data governance frameworks for geospatial and operational data; designing and maintaining ETL pipelines using FME and Talend; managing enterprise geodatabases (PostGIS) and ArcGIS Enterprise infrastructure; developing data stewardship policies, metadata standards, and data quality assurance processes; supporting MSF operational centers worldwide with GIS data architecture and integration; and providing training and capacity building to GIS users across the network. Required qualifications include a Master's degree in GIS, Computer Science, or Information Science (data management focus) or equivalent professional experience; minimum 5 years combined experience in GIS Data Analytics and Data Governance/Stewardship roles; deep expertise in data governance frameworks, ETL pipelines (FME, Talend), enterprise geodatabases (PostGIS), ArcGIS Enterprise, Python and GIS libraries (Arcpy, GDAL, Geopandas), data modeling, metadata management, and APIs; humanitarian sector exposure is considered an advantage. English is mandatory; French is an asset. Full-time, open-ended contract; ideal start date is June 1, 2026.
