GIS & Data Science Specialist
Overview
Island Conservation seeks a GIS & Data Science Specialist to manage the acquisition, collection, analysis, and troubleshooting of GPS, GIS, and remotely sensed data supporting island restoration projects worldwide.
The role
The role compiles and analyzes data from fieldwork, develops and maintains spatial databases, applies spatial analysis and remote sensing methods to scientific questions, supports the development of conservation technologies, and produces data visualizations for fundraising and grant proposals.
Location and travel
This is a full-time remote position with preference for candidates located near project sites (Chile, Peru, New Zealand, Micronesia, Polynesia, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico). The position includes both desktop-based and field work and requires extended travel (approximately 25% of time) to remote field locations, with willingness to live in camping-like conditions for periods of four to six weeks.
