Under the UN-SPIDER Programme of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), this GIS / Remote Sensing Expert role (UNV assignment based in Bonn, Germany) leads the acquisition and processing of multi-sensor satellite data, including optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery, to support disaster risk assessments.

Responsibilities include

  • providing technical guidance to Member States on integrating space-based information into disaster management frameworks,
  • developing content for the UN-SPIDER Knowledge Portal,
  • supporting Technical Advisory Missions,
  • coordinating regional support offices,
  • and providing GIS and remote sensing technical assistance during disaster events.

Required qualifications include

  • remote sensing and GIS expertise,
  • satellite data processing experience,
  • knowledge of disaster risk management,
  • technical writing ability,
  • and strong communication skills.
