GIS Specialist 1/2

The City of Sunnyvale seeks a dynamic, knowledgeable, and skilled GIS professional to support geographic information systems across municipal departments. Performs technical and analytical work in the design, creation, maintenance and utilization of Geographic Information Systems. Consults with city staff regarding GIS requirements, designs and maintains data models, maps, and tabular datasets. Implements graphical systems and automated mechanisms, oversees map layer updates and revisions, manages mapping projects and system upgrades. GIS Specialist 2 level adds planning and designing GIS-based systems and interfaces, analyzing mapping processes, conducting training sessions, coordinating vendor and IT resources, and providing subject-matter expertise on complex GIS issues. Salary: $94,433 - $133,914 annually. Requires GIS Certificate plus experience, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field, or industry certifications (ASPRS, GISP, ESRI) plus experience. Closing June 8, 2026.
