GIS Specialist

The City of Arcata, California hired a GIS Specialist to develop and maintain Geographic Information Systems digital base maps, databases, and related applications. Responsibilities include creating, editing, and updating digital mapping programs using GIS hardware and software; maintaining the city's GIS infrastructure (water, sewer, stormwater, irrigation); designing GIS applications and integrating them with Cartegraph asset management software; conducting spatial analyses on utility infrastructure and billing data reconciliation; producing maps, reports, and data visualizations for city departments and the public; performing GPS field data collection; ensuring data quality through QA/QC processes; and providing technical support and training to city staff. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field plus two years of progressive ArcGIS experience in municipal infrastructure, plus one year of programming experience. Essential: ArcGIS Pro, Python, SQL, GPS systems, CAD software, Adobe Creative Suite. Compensation: $29.43-$37.56 hourly ($61,219-$78,133 annually).
