GIS Support Technician
Overview
The City of Worcester Department of Public Works seeks a GIS Support Technician for the Water Operations Division. Under the direction of the Senior GIS Analyst, the GIS Support Technician will be responsible for editing Water and Sewer data within a versioned geodatabase environment using Esri ArcGIS Pro software for the Geographic Information System (GIS) within the Department of Public Works (DPW).
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain GIS data
- Analyze georeferenced plans
- Generate maps and reports using ArcGIS PRO upon request
- Assist with training and field data collection
Essential duties encompass updating water/sewer data, processing data from various sources, digitizing information into Feature Classes, creating requested maps and reports, and supporting the Asset Management software systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, engineering, or computer science (or equivalent experience plus three years in relevant roles)
- One year with ArcGIS Pro 3.x
- GIS hardware experience
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Data quality assurance background
Preferred
- Two years of ArcGIS Pro experience in municipal/utility environments
- One year with AutoCAD
Wage $31.40-$38.27 per hour. Full-time, 40 hours per week. Open until filled, preference given to applications received by March 20, 2026. Bilingual applicants especially encouraged to apply.
