Casey Trees, a Washington, DC nonprofit dedicated to restoring, enhancing, and protecting the tree canopy of the nation's capital, seeks a GIS Technician to connect people to trees using maps and data.

The role

Working with the Tree Operations department, the technician:

  • coordinates to deliver mapping products
  • prepares and maintains tree inventory and survival data
  • creates maintenance maps for pruning, watering, and survivability tracking
  • updates public-facing maps using ArcGIS Online
  • generates grant reports through GIS database queries
  • and supports staff training on GIS tools and field work.

Required

  • a Bachelor's degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field
  • intermediate ArcPro proficiency (geoprocessing, geodatabases, map layouts)
  • experience with ArcGIS Online and ESRI StoryMaps
  • and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Pay starts at $26-$29/hour.
