GIS Technician

Overview
Under general supervision, the GIS Technician maintains geographic information system databases for various City departments. Responsibilities include updating maps for subdivisions and utility projects, creating graphics for departmental presentations, collecting field data using GPS equipment, digitizing spatial data from CAD and other sources, and ensuring database accuracy across citywide GIS systems. Minimum qualifications: two years of experience using GIS software (Esri ArcGIS for Desktop), or significant coursework (24 quarter hours / 16 semester hours) in geographic information systems. The exam is expected to be administered in June 2026.
