The role supports the GIS Division under a GIS Coordinator's supervision, handling gathering, maintaining and updating GIS data and software pertaining to significant utilities and operations city-wide. The position assists Water, Wastewater, Electric, Street, Police, Fire, and other municipal departments.

Key duties

  • collecting and maintaining network data for municipal databases;
  • creating and modifying maps using GIS systems;
  • preparing detailed drawings and imagery via CAD, web apps, and dashboards;
  • supporting GIS deployment across city departments;
  • data collection through surveying and UAS flights;
  • developing scripts and ArcGIS tasks for workflow improvements;
  • analyzing data and recommending efficiency enhancements;
  • maintaining utility development records and website updates; and
  • providing technical GIS support and staff training.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field; two to three years of progressively responsible GIS database experience; strong cartographic and mapping principles knowledge; and working knowledge of ArcGIS.

Required certifications: valid driver's license with clean driving record and an FAA UAS Remote Pilot (Part 107) License or the ability to obtain one.

Schedule 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Salary $67,398.86-$90,987.52 annually.
