Hydrographic Specialist

Position Overview: Woolpert seeks a Hydrographic Survey Specialist for their Port Orchard, WA or Honolulu, HI office. The role emphasizes field work on marine infrastructure and navigational charting surveys across the US, with approximately 100 days of annual travel. The company particularly values candidates with both survey expertise and vessel operation capabilities. Core Responsibilities: Field Work: - Multibeam and singlebeam hydrographic surveying. - GNSS topographic surveys. - Terrestrial LiDAR surveys. - Survey vessel mobilization. - GNSS and optical control surveys. - Operating and towing survey vessels in coastal waterways. Office Work: - Multibeam and singlebeam data processing. - GNSS static control network processing. - AutoCAD Civil 3D work. - Terrestrial LiDAR processing (3D laser scanning). Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, environmental science, ocean engineering, geology, geography, spatial science, marine science, or a comparable field. - Self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver with genuine interest in marine-focused work. - Experience working on vessels conducting hydrographic or land surveys. - Current work authorization (no visa sponsorship available). Preferred Qualifications: Survey vessel operation experience; proficiency with HYPACK, QINSy, or similar marine software; CAD skills; magnetometer/sonar experience; LiDAR expertise; Trimble GPS knowledge; understanding of geodesy; and pursuit of Professional Land Surveyor licensure. Salary Range: $75,400 - $94,300 USD.
