Position Overview: Woolpert seeks a Hydrographic Survey Specialist for their San Rafael office to conduct marine infrastructure and navigational charting surveys along California's coast. The role emphasizes field work with approximately 100 days of annual travel. The company particularly values candidates with both surveying expertise and vessel operation capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Field Work: - Conducting multibeam and singlebeam hydrographic surveys. - Performing GNSS topographic and terrestrial LiDAR surveys. - Managing survey vessel mobilization and operation. - Establishing GNSS and optical control surveys. - Operating and towing survey vessels in coastal environments. Office Work: - Processing multibeam and singlebeam data. - Adjusting GNSS control networks. - Creating AutoCAD Civil 3D deliverables. - Processing terrestrial LiDAR and 3D laser scanning data. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, environmental science, ocean engineering, geology, geography, spatial science, marine science, or a comparable field. - Self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver with genuine interest in marine surveying. - Vessel experience and hydrographic or land survey background. - Current work authorization (no sponsorship available). Preferred Qualifications: Survey vessel operation and towing experience; proficiency with marine software (HYPACK, QINSy, Qimera, SESWin, Discover); CAD/GIS software skills; magnetometer, sonar, or positioning system experience; LiDAR processing knowledge; geodesy and PPK solution experience; and progress toward Professional Land Surveyor licensure. Compensation: $65,800 - $82,300 USD.
