Information Technology Manager - Geospatial Software Engineering

IWMI seeks a technology leader to design and deliver geospatial software platforms, digital twin systems, and data-driven applications. The role encompasses developing product strategies, managing full lifecycle implementation of decision-support systems, and maintaining digital infrastructure while ensuring security and scalability. Key responsibilities: design geospatial solutions and digital twin ecosystems translating research into operational systems; develop product roadmaps informed by user needs and research priorities; lead cross-functional collaboration to standardize IT processes and align solutions with institutional architecture; provide training to strengthen team adoption and reduce dependency on individuals; and monitor performance indicators to ensure timely, quality delivery. Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), advanced IT experience with platform management and project leadership, and a software engineering background preferably in digital agriculture tools. High proficiency in TypeScript (ES6+), Python, and SQL; expertise in backend frameworks like FastAPI and Django using REST/GraphQL; cloud expertise including AWS services, containerization with Docker, and CI/CD workflows; and geospatial processing skills with tools such as Google Earth Engine, GDAL, STAC, and COG. Based in Colombo, Sri Lanka (on-site, with possible remote consideration).
