The position involves implementing Terrestrial LiDAR Scanning and remote sensing programs within the Fire Management Department of The Ember Alliance.

Key responsibilities

  • processing and quality-controlling LiDAR data,
  • managing scanning campaigns,
  • developing data management protocols,
  • coordinating with project managers and field crews,
  • producing summary reports and fuels characterization tools,
  • developing machine learning models in Python and R,
  • supervising staff, and
  • securing funding through grants and proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Geography, Remote Sensing, or related field;
  • minimum 2 years managing geospatial/LiDAR data workflows;
  • at least 2 years managing multiple ongoing or high-complexity projects;
  • experience with TLS/aerial LiDAR processing tools (LAStools, CloudCompare, PDAL);
  • programming skills in Python or R;
  • GIS platform experience (ArcGIS, QGIS, ArcPro).

Compensation $34 per hour. Permanent remote, 40 hours/week average. Closes May 14, 2026.
