Part-Time Project Scientist, Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering

UCLA's Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) seeks a Part-Time Project Scientist (10% FTE) focused on aerosols, clouds, trace gases, moisture, pollution transport, and their impacts on weather, climate, and Earth-system processes.

Key activities include analyzing satellite observations of atmospheric composition, evaluating climate and weather models, developing diagnostics and satellite simulators, and studying aerosol-cloud interactions across regional and global scales. The role contributes to publications, proposal development, and collaboration with partner labs including NASA JPL.

Required qualifications include a doctorate in Earth or atmospheric science with a minimum of five years of post-PhD research experience, demonstrated expertise in satellite remote sensing of the atmosphere, atmospheric composition analysis, and regional and global climate modeling systems.
