PostDoc in Climate-Resilient Landscape Planning

The Institute of Environmental Planning at Leibniz University Hannover is hiring a PostDoc in Climate-Resilient Landscape Planning. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research using quantitative, qualitative, and GIS-based data generated through participatory landscape planning processes. Additional duties include developing peer-reviewed publications, presenting at international conferences, contributing to project coordination including workshops and reporting, and supporting doctoral researcher supervision. The role focuses on the EU Horizon Europe SpongeWorks project, which develops nature-based solutions for water retention and climate resilience across European landscapes. Required qualifications: a Master's degree or equivalent in landscape planning, geography, sustainability science, ecosystem services, climate adaptation, environmental sciences, or a related field, plus a completed PhD. Expected qualifications: an excellent academic track record and strong potential for high-quality scientific publications, empirical research experience relevant to spatial planning, proficiency in quantitative or qualitative methods, with GIS-based spatial analysis highly desirable, strong interest in interdisciplinary research, and excellent English communication skills. Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 75% part-time, fixed-term through August 31, 2028, with possible extension. No teaching required but available upon request. Application deadline August 5, 2026.
