Muon Space is hiring a Senior Remote Sensing Data Scientist for calibration and validation.
Responsibilities
- design and implement radiometric calibration and image processing of multispectral infrared imagery;
- develop and execute calibration programs for the SBEM infrared camera;
- conduct research and development to enhance foundational data calibration;
- implement and operate production pipelines;
- write production-ready code;
- collaborate cross-functionally across teams to design and maintain operational services; and
- learn new topics as needed across measurement techniques, geospatial engineering, and software development.
Qualifications
- PhD with 3+ years of industry experience, MS with 6+ years, or BS with 8+ years;
- 4+ years of experience calibrating imaging instruments;
- hands-on experience with complex data from new imaging instruments;
- exceptional Python-based development and analysis skills;
- strong statistical and mathematical capabilities;
- ability to work with distributed, interdisciplinary teams; and
- capability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred qualifications: mid-wave infrared instrument and data processing experience, on-orbit instrument calibration background, deep remote sensing science knowledge, geospatial data processing experience, familiarity with XArray, COG, and NetCDF tooling, cloud-native systems experience with AWS preferred, and experience with terabyte-sized datasets.
Salary range $138,000-$198,000 plus equity and benefits. Remote position.
