Surveyor (Public Utilities)

The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is hiring a Surveyor for Public Utilities. The role involves performing technical surveying functions for public utilities infrastructure projects, including topographical surveys, deed research, and drafting design drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct topographical surveys using advanced data collection equipment for roadway and storm drainage designs.
• Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
• Design and prepare construction plans using CADD techniques.
• Research property deeds, plats, and easements.
• Operate field computers and download survey data.
• Maintain detailed field notes and documentation.
• Notify property owners of survey objectives.
• Answer technical questions and provide engineering recommendations.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Surveying, Drafting and Design, or equivalent experience (two years of surveying/drafting).
• Valid driver's license required.
• Georgia State Board Registered Survey License preferred.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Position Details

Reports to the Engineering Administrator. Non-exempt with a six-month probationary period. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing.

Salary

$54,569.00 annually. Closing date: continuous.
