Job Summary
The GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst provides mid-level technical support in identifying, researching, designing, developing, deploying, troubleshooting, and resolving moderately complex issues related to a multi-user GIS network system.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English
- U.S. Citizen or possess current permanent resident card
- Clean criminal history
- No illegal drug usage within past year
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geoscience, Surveying, Engineering, Architecture & Planning or related field AND three years related experience OR High School diploma/GED AND four years related experience
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Must complete agency-sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations Training if applicable
- FCIC/NCIC and CJIS certifications within six months of employment
Essential Functions
- Install and configure GIS components including software, telecommunications, and peripherals
- Research, obtain, compile, create, and migrate data into GIS databases
- Apply systems development lifecycle processes to maintain data accuracy and integrity
- Perform data analysis generating maps and reports for decision-making
- Extend GIS software to develop custom tools and automation processes
- Maintain and support public safety applications and spatial data infrastructure
- Conduct training for GIS users
- Evaluate new software and provide recommendations
- Assist with GIS environment system administration
- Read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures
- Write routine reports and correspondence
- Present information to internal and external stakeholders
Required Knowledge and Skills
- High quality map design and cartographic practices
- Business, system, processes and data analysis
- Advanced GIS data and technologies skills
- ESRI desktop products expertise
- Geodatabase design and topology resolution
- ArcSDE data management
- SQL in Management Studio environment
- Programming/scripting languages (ArcPy, Python) to extend ArcGIS
Work Environment
- Work in remote locations within Orange County
- Work with computer-related equipment
- Occasional electrical shock risk exposure
- Usually moderate noise level
- May occasionally work evenings/weekends
- Required to support emergency operations during critical incidents
- May be recalled or assigned to technical support teams
Salary: $60,236.80/year - $92,539.20/year (starting rate may vary based on education, training, and/or experience)
