Postdoctoral Scholar - Photon Informed Ecology Lab

The UC Santa Barbara Department of Geography invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position with the Photon Informed Ecology Lab. The scholar will conduct research at the intersection of remote sensing, ecosystem science, and climate-ecosystem interactions, focusing on multi-scale observations of ecosystem carbon and water fluxes. Work involves analyzing vegetation stress, developing remote sensing methods, and applying findings to environmental decision-making and water resource management. Required Qualifications: PhD in Earth Systems Science, Environmental Science, Geography, Ecology, or related field by June 1, 2026; valid US driver's license for fieldwork at Sedgwick Reserve. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with proximal remote sensing data collection, field research, or satellite/airborne data analysis; knowledge of carbon-water coupling, vegetation physiology, or drought impacts; strong writing and communication skills; student mentoring experience.
