The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder is recruiting a Research Scientist within the Earth Science and Observation Center (ESOC). This role focuses on satellite-based observation technologies and characterization of hydrologic processes using multiple sensor platforms (SWOT, SAR, optical). Key Responsibilities: - Process and analyze satellite data from multiple sensors to characterize hydrologic processes, including algorithm development (30%) - Employ existing models and develop novel approaches to model earth surface processes (30%) - Build collaborations with internal and external research institutions (10%) - Secure funding through research proposals (10%) - Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals (10%) - Engage in community outreach and mentoring (5%) Required Qualifications: - PhD in hydrology, oceanography, engineering, or related field - Minimum 4 years in remote sensing and hydrology - At least 1 year of earth surface modeling experience - Strong data processing capabilities and communication skills Preferred: Python, MATLAB, R, or IDL programming; hydrologic modeling experience; knowledge of error analysis and noise assessment.
